The Art Horizons Foundation offers young artists a space for artistic experimentation, gaining stage experience and building valuable relationships with audiences.
The foundation was founded in 2010 by Iwona Glogowska-Gieszcz and initially served the development of visual arts, creatively supporting children, youth and adults. In 2018, it was pushed to new heights by Katarzyna Czubek and Anna Jankowska. Today, the organization focuses on supporting young artists active in the early music scene.
The Foundation’s activities enrich the cultural offer of Pomerania, especially focusing on the Kashubian region. Working with organizations and institutions relevant to the development of culture, art and education, Art Horizons creates unique cultural events.
The Foundation seeks to diagnose the challenges present in the sector and respond to them through its activities. One of the problems we see is the hermetic nature of cultural institutions: focused on achieving their statutory goals, institutions are often closed to young artists. Their need to express themselves and gain stage experience remains unfulfilled. Similarly, the desire to test one’s projects, to network with other artists, and – central to artistic work – the need to build relationships with male and female audiences goes unrealized.
Recognizing the importance of including young artists in cultural activities and providing them with adequate exposure, in 2012 the Foundation established its largest event, the Young Early Music Festival, accompanied by MMD’s Open Call residency program. We are implementing both projects in rural areas, thus influencing the decentralization of culture centered around large urban areas. Participation in worthwhile music projects taking place in the neighborhood and friendly atmosphere of the periphery allows young artists to be in closer contact with their audiences.
We work on our projects comprehensively: we observe the needs of the environment, set goals for our activities, raise funds for them, get partners, and involve creators and audiences. All this to realize inclusive, developing and friendly events. So far we have carried out such projects as: The Young Early Music Festival, On the Baltic Siren – Concerts and lectures dedicated to Constantia Czirenberg, musical editions of unpublished works and their premiere performances.
The Foundation’s activities have been recognized and appreciated at home and abroad. In 2024, we received several important awards and honors:
